Prediction rules for exchangeable sequences related to species sampling

چکیده
Suppose an exchangable sequence with values in a nice measurable space S admits a prediction rule of the following form: given the rst n terms of the sequence, the next term equals the jth distinct value observed so far with probability pj;n, for j = 1; 2; : : :, and otherwise is a new value with distribution for some probability measure on S with no atoms. Then the pj;n depend only on the partitition of the rst n integers induced by the rst n values of the sequence. All possible distributions for such an exchangeable sequence are characterized in terms of constraints on the pj;n and in terms of their de Finetti representations.

متن کاملGeneralized Species Sampling Priors with Latent Beta reinforcements
Many popular Bayesian nonparametric priors can be characterized in terms of exchangeable species sampling sequences. However, in some applications, exchangeability may not be appropriate. We introduce a novel and probabilistically coherent family of non-exchangeable species sampling sequences characterized by a tractable predictive probability function with weights driven by a sequence of indep...
متن کاملSpecies sampling priors for modeling dependence: an application to the detection of chromosomal aberrations
We discuss a class of Bayesian nonparametric priors that can be used to model local dependence in a sequence of observations. Many popular Bayesian nonparametric priors can be characterized in terms of exchangeable species sampling sequences. However, in some applications, common exchangeability assumptions may not be appropriate. We discuss a generalization of species sampling sequences, where...
متن کاملPhylogeny of gazelles in some islands of Iran based on mtDNA sequences: Species identification and implications for conservation
Different species of gazelles are among the most endangered mammals on the Asian steppes and occur in the central, southern and northwestern regions of Iran. The previous conservation efforts in this region have been incomplete due to confusion about the phylogenetic relationship among various populations. So that, different conservation programs such as ex-situ breeding and transfer of captive...
متن کاملAssessment of relationships between Iranian Fritillaria (Liliaceae) Species Using Chloroplast trnh-psba Sequences and Morphological Characters
The genus Fritillaria comprises of 165 taxa of medicinal, ornamental and horticultural importance. Evolutionary relationships in this genus is an interesting research area, attracting many researchers. In this study, phylogenetic relationships among 18 native to endemic species in Iran belonging to four subgenera Petilium, Theresia, Rhinopetalum and Fritillaria, are assessed using chloroplast t...
